Martha Sivaguru - Co-Convenor

Martha's School of Law Profile
Martha
is a PhD candidate at the School of Law, where she also tutors undergraduate
Tort law. She is the current President of the Graduate Legal Research Society
and the Managing Editor of the King's Student Law Review. She holds an
LLB(Hons) from King's (2004) and an LLM from UCL (2007). She was called to the Bar
of England and Wales in 2005, and from 2005 to 2006 she worked in the
Litigation Department of Allen & Gledhill (Advocates and Solicitors) in
Singapore. Martha's doctoral research focuses on principles for the
quantification of gain-based damages. Her research interests lie principally in
the law obligations, particularly unjust enrichment, tort and contract, and she
maintains an interest in medical law and ethics and human rights. Martha is
also a classically trained pianist and choral singer, and an excellent cook -
though baking is her speciality.

Egle Dagilyte - Co-Convenor

Egle's School of Law Profile
Egle Dagilyte is an MPhil/PhD student at the
King’s College Law School, holding an LLB Degree (Law and Management) from
Mykolas Romeris University, Lithuania (2004) and an LLM Degree in International
and Comparative Law from Uppsala University, Sweden (2006). One of the biggest international challenges in
her life was organising a two-week International Summer School ‘War on Terror
and Human Rights’ 2006, which attracted participants and professors from 20
countries worldwide. In addition, Egle has been involved in event organising
and marketing under ELSA and ILSA networks. She is the Treasurer of the Graduate Legal Research Society. When one gets to know Egle better, they find
out she plays the guitar, kankles (Lithuanian national instrument), enjoys
singing and is passionate about dance!

Thomas MacManus - Finance Officer

Thomas
is a PhD student at King's College London School of
Law. His doctoral research focuses on international criminal justice as
applied
to corporations. He holds a BA in Law and Accounting from the
University of
Limerick (2002) – which included one year at Tilburg University
– and an LLM
(with Distinction) in International Law from the University of
Westminster
(2005). Thomas was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2004 and the
Roll of
Solicitors of Ireland in 2008. He is Joint Editor of Amicus Journal and
has
completed many Pro Bono projects, including writing part of a report of
Columbian paramilitary activity for the Sri Lankan government (by
PILPG),
working on Uighurs’ cases in Guantanamo Bay (with CCR) and
Caribbean death row
cases. He will be Finance Officer of the Graduate Legal Research
Society in the 2009/2010 academic year. Thomas is an avid film fan and
loves to travel.

Marta Iljadica - Submissions & Logistics Officer

Marta
is an MPhil/PhD student in the School of Law at King’s. She holds
First Class
Honours degrees in Economics (Social Sciences) (2003) and Law (2006)
from the
University of Sydney and was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South
Wales
in 2007. Prior to commencing her PhD, she worked as a commercial
litigation
lawyer and as a research assistant in health and medical law at the
University
of Sydney. Marta’s current research, under the supervision of Dr
Tanya Aplin,
explores the legal responses to artworks in public spaces. Marta will
be President of the Graduate Legal Research Society in the 2009/2010
academic year. She knows the
difference between a tag and a throw up and is a big fan of Blek le
Rat, and,
Rote and the IM Crew.

Becca is an
MPhil/PhD student in the School of Law at King's, also teaching
Transnational and Comparative Criminal Justice. Becca will be Recording
Secretary of the Graduate Legal Research Society in the 2009/2010

Caroline Morris - Registrations Officer

Caroline is a PhD student at KCL School of Law under the supervision of
Professors Robert Blackburn and Keith Ewing. Her dissertation is an
investigation into the legal regulation of parliamentary membership,
with particular attention paid to election petitions, candidate
selection disputes, and Parliament’s privilege of expulsion. Caroline
expects to submit her PhD for examination in mid 2009. Her research is funded by a Commonwealth Scholarship and a grant from the New Zealand Federation of Graduate Women. She
holds a BA in Political Science and an LLB(Hons) (First Class) from
Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. She has an LLM from the
University of California, Los Angeles. Caroline also has a Diploma in
Public Speaking and Communication. She is a Barrister and Solicitor of
the High Court of New Zealand.

Cian Murphy - Ex-Officio

Cian's School of Law Profile
Cian is a PhD candidate, tutoring undergraduate European law and public law and
lecturing terrorism and counter-terrorism. He holds BCL (Hons) and LL.M
(Public Law) from University College Cork and King's College London
respectively. His research focusses on EU law, Irish and UK public law,
and human rights and counter-terrorism. His thesis is concerned with
the rule of law in the EU during the 'war on terrorism', on which he
has published widely. Cian was Convenor of the IGLRC in 2007 and Co-Convenor in 2008. He is a
member of Liberty and Amnesty International. He enjoys music, movies,
travel, rock climbing and is a member of the Serpentine Running Club.
Cian has an unhealthy interest in the US politics and politics in general.

Márton Horányi - Ex-Officio

Márton's School of Law Profile
Márton is a PhD
student at the Centre of European Law. In 2004 he completed his undergraduate
degree in law at the Pázmány Péter Catholic
University, Budapest. In 2005-2006 he studied for his
LL.M (European Law) at the Europa-Institut, University of Saarbrücken.
He began his research at King’s under the supervision of Professors Alexander
Türk and Margaret Bloom in Autumn 2006. He successfully completed his transfer
to the PhD register in June 2007. His research is funded by the Centre of
European Law.
